Le collectif “LibMed” : pourquoi et comment revisiter l’histoire de la Libye médiévale

Sébastien Garnier and Aurélien Montel had the pleasure to expose what LibMed is to a large audience at the séminaire “Actualités de la recherche en histoire et archéologie de l’Islam médiéval” (Paris, Sorbonne). Among the many guests, Dr. Salah Agab — the Permanent Representative of Libya to UNESCO — attended the presentation. External viewers could also follow this session via a videoconference.

Starting from the historiographical silences regarding this long period, the talk introduced how LibMed works, how the team members renew the sources, how they explore understudied or unknown deposits. Some achievements have been shown and fruitful perspectives drawn.
